Derrick Javon White

Derrick Javon White, 24, of 1513 Austin Drive, died June 18, 2005 in Southampton County. He was a native of Suffolk.
Derrick was preceded in death in death by his grandfather, the Rev. William Copeland, great-grandmother Bessie Baker and great-grandfather Leroy Kee, uncles, Attorney R. Tyrone Kee, Ronald Copeland and Clarence Randolph Copeland.
He was a graduate of Lakeland High School and a member of Tabernacle Christian Church, and served on the youth choir, ushers ministry and youth ministry where he was very active.
Derrick also leaves to cherish his memories his parents, the Rev. Lucille Kee-White and Dr. Anthony Copeland of Suffolk; a sister, Demeika Vontrice White of Suffolk; brothers, Michael Teron White, Anthony Hedgepeth and Jonathan Terrell Copeland, all of Suffolk; maternal grandparents, Bessie Kee-Newsome and James T. Newsome and paternal grandmother, Evelyn Copeland; a niece, Destiny Arie Whitfield; a special niece, Jasmine A. Lundy; a special aunt, Vondelear Kee (second mother); aunts, the Rev. Sylvia Copeland Murphy, Brenda Brown, Judy Scott and Reba Copeland; cousins and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2005 in Grove Baptist Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. Dr. Melvin O. Marriner will officiate.
Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
The family will receive friends at 1233 Lake Kennedy Drive.
