City officials will have their own

Independence Day celebration Monday, and attend the fireworks display at Constant’s Wharf.

The Suffolk City Council will be joined by members of various city boards, including the Suffolk Planning Commission and the Industrial Development Authority, to watch the fireworks from veranda of the new Hilton Garden Inn, said Dennis Craff, the city’s communications director.

Spouses and key city administrative team members also invited to the event, expected to last about an hour.

&uot;It’s a small get-together,&uot; said Craff.

Although light hors d’oeuvres will be served, no alcohol will be served on the city’s tab, he said.

City taxpayers are footing the bill for the gathering, which Craff estimated would cost about $1,000.
