Metropolitan Baptist

The men of the Metropolitan Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Men's Day with activities beginning today starting with midweek service at 7 p.m. The theme for this year's Men's Day will be "The Purpose of Man's Life in Christ." The day of this event is July 20. The guest speaker will be Pastor Edwin Goodwin Jr. of the Alpha and Omega Fellowship Baptist Church in Portsmouth.

Following the midweek service, the Metropolitan Baptist Men's Day Summit will begin Saturday, July 23 led by four spirit-filled men of God. Pastor Dwayne Strothers, of Faith Temple Ministries, will speak on the top, "Man in Relationship to himself; Pastor Gregory Johnson, of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will speak on "Main in Relationship to God," Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church will expand on the topic, "Man in Relationship to Family," and Pastor James Brown Jr. of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church will speak on "Man in Relationship to Others." Pastor Alexander Holland will conduct to the men's workshop.

The Men's Day at Metropolitan Baptist will end with the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, July 24 with guest minister, the Rev. Roland Goodman of Bethany Baptist Church, of Wichita, Kansas.

St. Paul RZUA Praise Team

The St. Paul RZUA Praise Team will host a singing program at 6 p.m. Saturday featuring various groups. The church is located at 619 Spruce Street.

Services at New Paul's Temple Church this week

Pastor's anniversary services are continuing at New Paul's Temple Holiness Church, located at 720 Hosier Road. Today, Pastor Felton of Central Hill will be the speaker; Elder Darryl Artis of New Jerusalem Church, Carrsville, will speak on Thursday, and Elder Howard Green will be the guest speaker on Friday. All services begin at 7:30 p.m. At noon Sunday, the closing of the Pastor C. B. Skinner's 12th anniversary will take place. Elder William E. Vacation Bible School

at Galations United

Galations United Church of Christ, 2320 Manning Road, Suffolk, will host Vacation Bible School from Monday, July 18-22. Homecoming service

at Pleasant Grove

Homecoming will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, located at Pineview and Butler Drive. The Rev. Dr. V.T. Vacation Bible School at First Pentecostal

Watchful Eye Summer Youth program

The Tabernacle Christian Church is sponsoring the Watchful Eye Summer Youth Program now through July 29. The program, open to children K-6th grade, will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the TCC Life Center.

Greater Sweet Beulah Summer Revival

The Greater Sweet Beulah Church will have its summer revival today through July 15. Evangelist Eula Payne-Williams, pastor of the El-Bethel Ministry in South Boston, will be the revivalist. The Healing Chapel Baptist Church will be observing its annual Women's Day activities during the month of July. The theme for 2005 is "What Every Christian Woman Should Know." From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, the women of Little Bethel Baptist Church, 6533 Everets Road, will host a prayer breakfast and health fair. The speakers will present information on health issues that affect black women.

Concert at New Calvary

The New Mighty Pearly Gates will perform in a musical concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 17 at the New Calvary Baptist Church, located at 220 N. Sixth St., Suffolk. Oxford clothes closet available

As part of Oxford United Methodist's church's mission work in the city of Suffolk, the congregation is operating a clothes closet. The program has been running since June 30. Operation hours are from 9 a.m. to noon every Thursday. Hours will expand as the need grows and the closet becomes mores established.

Oxford is partnering with other local churches to meet the growing need in Suffolk. Residents are asked to assist in the following areas: prayer, volunteering, and donations (pick-up is available). To assist, call 434-1405.

Special programs, fish fry at Virginia-Carolina Temple

The Virginia-Carolina Temple Family Worship Center, 5500 Carolina Road, will host a Gospel Explosion at 5 p.m. Saturday.
