Raekwon Johnson, returning to quarterback for the Cavaliers, rushed for 258 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 152 yards and two touchdowns as Lakeland (6-2, 5-2) put up a season-high number of points on the Wildcats (5-3, 4-3) in a contest with Division 5 playoff importance.

Great Bridge scored 20 consecutive points to cut Lakeland’s lead down to 47-41 with 2:59 left in the game.

Johnson scored with a 47-yard touchdown run on the next Cavalier drive to clinch the Cavalier win.

Anaquan Peterson scored on a 5-yard touchdown run, followed by Marche Everett’s 28-yard interception return for a touchdown and a 27-yard touchdown catch from Johnson to Deonte Demiel, taking a tied score to a 34-14 Lakeland lead early in the second half. Evan Worley made 6-of-7 extra points for the Cavs.

Lakeland entered Friday’s schedule sixth in the regional power ratings. The Cavaliers host Indian River Friday at 7 p.m.

Grassfield 35, King’s Fork 19

The visiting Grizzlies remained perfect on the season at the expense of the Bulldogs.

King’s Fork’s Devonte Everett rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Uriah Adams rushed for two Bulldog touchdowns.

King’s Fork (1-7, 1-6) plays at Deep Creek Friday night.

Nansemond-Suffolk 44, Greenbrier Christian 0

At Greenbrier Christian

The Saints turned the Tidewater Conference road game into a rout in the third quarter and got their fourth straight victory.

Nansemond-Suffolk, having allowed 18 points total in its last three games, outgained GCA 428-7.

Bobby Lamm rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns along with booting a 29-yard field goal.

Jackson DeMello passed to Michael Tyler Lepore for a touchdown giving NSA a 16-0 halftime lead. The Saints tacked on two more touchdowns in the third quarter.

David Gough, Jack Russell and DeMello had one rushing touchdown each. Tim Burns was 3-for-3 passing for 60 yards. DeMello was 3-for-6 for 49 yards.

Lepore and Jared Morse had an interception each aiding NSA’s defensive effort.

NSA (4-4, 2-2) plays at Trinity Episcopal Friday at 3:30 p.m.
