Laura Ann Williams of the 400 block of Hollywood Avenue entered into eternal rest Monday, July 18, 2005 in Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late James and Lucy Sharpe Kindred and the widow of Andrew Williams.

She was retired from Planters Peanut company and was a child-care provider. She was a member of St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of America for 60 years under the leadership of the late Bishop C.M. Clark and Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Howard Green for the remainder of her life. She was General Mother of the P.H.C. of America, member of the Elders Board, trustee of Friendship P.H.C. and past member of St. John Senior Choir and served as president of the Pastor’s Aide and Missionary to St. Paul in Zuni and was an ordained minister.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Evelyn Gay (Ashley, Sr.), Mazie Woodley (Kenneth Sr.), Elaine Green (Howard) and Eloise Kigler (Timothy), all of Suffolk; one son, Walter Williams (Joyce) of Suffolk; two sisters, Emma Buck and Lucy Mae Ashburn (Myrick) of Franklin; three brothers, Wilbert Kindred of Palm Beach, Fla., Jasper Kindred of Portsmouth and Raymond Kindred of Suffolk; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a close and dear friend, Marie Sykes of Suffolk and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 24, 2005 at St. John Pentecostal Holliness Church at 218 North Division St. by Bishop Early Gay Jr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A wake service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church at 2349 Godwin Boulevard. The family will assemble at 10 a.m. at 406 Hollywood Avenue for the procession to the church. The body will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
