Great Bridge 29, Nansemond River 22
At Great Bridge
Nansemond River’s Kameron Burnor kicked a 22-yard field goal to put the Warriors ahead 22-21 with 5:05 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Great Bridge running back Adriell Mayes rushed for his fourth touchdown of the game to put the Wildcats back in front with 1:25 left. Mayes finished with 36 carries and 255 yards.
NR quarterback Darwin Barbee threw for 132 yards and three touchdowns, with two of the touchdown connections being with Shannon Evans. LaMont Brown had 85 rushing yards.
The Warriors (3-4, 2-4) held the Wildcats (5-2, 4-2) to no pass completions and two interceptions in 11 pass attempts.
Nansemond River hosts Western Branch on Friday at 7 p.m.
Hickory 29, King’s Fork 14
At King’s Fork
The Bulldogs got on the board first with Charles Clark’s 69-yard touchdown run, then tied the game at 14 in the second period with Clark’s 87-yard kick return touchdown.
The Hawks (4-3, 3-3) went on to score the last 15 points of the game.
King’s Fork (1-6, 1-5) welcomes unbeaten Grassfield on Friday evening.
Nansemond-Suffolk 27, Norfolk Academy 6
At Nansemond-Suffolk
Nansemond-Suffolk held the visiting Bulldogs to zero first downs and 11 total yards in the first half while building up a 21-0 lead by halftime.
Quarterbacks Tim Burns and Jackson DeMello combined to go 10-for-15 passing for 142 yards. The Saints ran for 234 yards.
Bobby Lamm rushed four yards for the opening touchdown, then caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from DeMello in the second period. Lamm had 84 rushing yards, 48 receiving yards and four tackles.
A.J. Hicks rushed for a 5-yard touchdown in the second period. Jack Russell scored on a 3-yard run on NSA’s last drive of the game.
Ryan Serianni led NSA’s defensive effort with three tackles for loss.
The Saints (3-4, 1-2) have won three straight games. NSA plays at Greenbrier Christian Friday at 7 p.m.
