The Suffolk YMCA has been open for years. On Saturday morning, however, the facility &uot;Re-Opened.&uot;

It opened a new set of classes for its members, which are scheduled to begin in October. Classes such as group exercise, cycling, body design, yoga, and other fitness activities will start up soon. It opened a new set of group activities for members, the first of which will be the &uot;Back to School at the Pool&uot; event Sept. 9.

&uot;This is a new beginning,&uot; said Stephanie Clark, one of the Y’s &uot;marketeers.&uot;

&uot;There’s going to be more excitement and wellness for our families and communities. We’re going to get out in the community and help them get active. We’d like to start programs for our older adults. We’re going to work with corporations and challenge them to get fit.&uot; The facility offers several &uot;Lunch and Learn&uot; programs to local businesses, in which the companies are taught about the Y’s benefits.

In September, the facility will offer a &uot;Pay the Day&uot; promotion, in which membership fees will cost the number of days that have passed in the month. For example, joining on the first will cost $1, the second will cost $2, and so on.

Ray Bennett, whose floral company Ray’s Florist donated the decorations for the event, recently began coming to the facility with his wife and three children.

&uot;This is a place for families,&uot; he said of the Y. &uot;I want to do everything they have.&uot;

As her daughter Victoria waited in line for a pony ride – after meeting the Chick-Fil-A cow – member Cindy Tumilty looked forward to the future.

&uot;I wanted to support the Grand Re-Opening and have some fun,&uot; she said. &uot;The YMCA is a part of our community, and they do a lot of great things.&uot;
