Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Delane Powell of Suffolk are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Yolanda Tramaine Powell, to Torrey Santell Parker.

Torrey is the son of Dorothy Maurice Parker-Fenner and stepson of George Michael Fenner of Suffolk. He is also the son of the late Kenneth Lee Hill. He is the grandson of Dorothy L. Parker of Lakeville, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. James Fenwick of Newport News and the late Junius Stith. Torrey, a graduate of Lakeland High School, is employed with the Virginia Department of Transportation in Franklin.

Yolanda is the granddaughter of Mrs. Bertha Mae Powell of Suffolk and the late Joseph Henry Powell and the late Eugene and Lillian Boone. She is step-granddaughter of Elizabeth Boone of Norfolk. Yolanda, who graduated from Lakeland High School and Kee Business College, works for Charter Communications in Suffolk.

The wedding is planned for 3 p.m. Oct. 8, 2005, at New Gospel Temple C.O.G.I.C.
