Vice Mayor Leroy Bennett has been named acting chairman of the Southside Public Service Authority’s board of directors.
Bennett, who now serves as vice chairman, is replacing Richard MacManus, who resigned on Sept. 15.
MacManus also resigned his post from the Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors. He is leaving because of a job transfer within Dominion Power Co.
SPSA’s board of directors is holding a special meeting on Oct. 7 to elect a new chairman, said Felicia Blow, the agency’s spokeswoman.
