For the third time in three games this season, the Suffolk Lady Storm rallied in the fourth quarter but came up just shy in an Optima Girls Basketball League game, this time in a 26-22 loss to Portsmouth on Saturday at King’s Fork Middle School.
In the fourth quarter, Suffolk cut Portsmouth’s 14-point lead down to a two-point margin with less than a minute to go but couldn’t move in front.
Harper Birdsong led the Lady Storm with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals. Kaylee Boger had six points, two rebounds and two steals for Suffolk.
The Lady Storm plays against Chesapeake this Saturday in the league’s tripleheader at the Doris Miller Recreation Center in Newport News.
