Henry Douglass (Doug) Lindsay III, passed away Sept. 23, 2011, in Suffolk, Va., from melanoma metastatic cancer. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglass Lindsay Jr., of Williamsburg, Va.
Mr. Lindsay had been a resident of Suffolk for more than 40 years, working at Planters Peanuts in 1970, the Suffolk Housing Authority, Goodman Segar Hogan Real Estate, and the Realty Referral Company of Suffolk. He was a graduate of Warwick High School of Newport News, Louisburg College and University of Mississippi. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Doug was active and enjoyed participating in Chamber of Commerce activities, the Jaycees, Ruritan Club, Toast Masters, Tidewater Realtor Association, Louisburg College Alumni Association, and the Suffolk Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Virginia Barnett, of Roanoke, and Jane Lindsay, of Salem; brothers, Andrew Lindsay, of Newport News, and Harvey Lindsay, of Lynchburg, Va.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 by the Rev. Rebecca P. Lesley.
