James Edward Dildy

James Edward Dildy, 70, of 7948 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk, entered into eternal rest and peace on Nov. 25, 2005 in Obici Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Nansemond County and son of the late Percy and Nora Dildy.
He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1997 after 15 years of service. He was a member of Palm Tree Baptist Church, Whaleyville Blvd., where he was a deacon and treasurer of the Sunday School. He was also president of the Whaleyville Civic League.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mary L. Dildy; four daughters, Sharon Chapman (Randolph) and Betty Dildy-Goodman (Alvin) of Suffolk, Mary Darden of Forestville, MD, and Vera Chavis (Donald) of Chesapeake; one son, James T. Dildy (Joylyn) of Suffolk; five sisters, Alma Hunter, Helen Robertson, Janice Ralph (Vernon), Minnie Dildy, and Velma Dildy; three brothers, Jefferson Dildy (Louella), Wesley Dildy, and Eugene Dildy (Christine); nine grandchildren; five aunts, Annie Wiggins, Ruth Boone, Ruby Edwards, Evelyn Collins (William) and Ethel Langston; one aunt, Willie Dildy; one great-aunt, Geneva Langston; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Dildy and Louise Dildy; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at 1 p.m. in Palm Tree Baptist Church, 8165 Whaleyville Blvd., by the Rev. Dr. William Hampton. Interment will be in the Langston Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at other times at 7948 Whaleyville Blvd. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.-com.
