Emily G. Davis, 84, of 710 Camero Court, Suffolk, Va., died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Orangeburg County, S.C., and the daughter of the late Frank Ladson Sr. and Maggie Ladson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Davis Sr.; two daughters, Vernice McCullough and Rebecca Jordan; one sister, Jessie M. Malone; and one great-great-grandchild.

She retired from Planters Peanut Company after 36 years of service. She was a member of Greater First Baptist Church Orlando, where she was a member of the Missionary Circle, Senior Choir and Voice of Victory Choir, Finance Committee, Usher Board and the Building Fund Steering Committee. She was the president of the now-renamed Emily G. Davis Christian Women’s Fellowship.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Patricia A. Holliman (Elder Reginald Sr.), of Suffolk; two sons, Stormy Davis (Shirley), of Hampton, and Stephen Davis Jr., of Suffolk; one adopted daughter, Sarah Bellamy, of Suffolk; seven sisters, Rose Lawrence, Inez Ferguson, Dorothy High, Mary Ann Coleman (Wilmer), Florine Brown, Stella Washington (Robert) and Willa Jefferson (Linca); three brothers, Frank Ladson Jr., Roosevelt Ladson (Jannie) and James-Happy Ladson (Miriam); 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Greater First Baptist Church Orlando officiated by the Rev. Moses Ware and the Rev. Henry Baker. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 710 Camero Court in Suffolk.
