Several streets in downtown Suffolk were closed off Wednesday morning after a bomb threat at the courthouse.
According to city spokeswoman Debbie George, the threat was called in at 9:50 a.m. to the emergency communications center at the police department.
“The information relayed by the subject was that the individual was going to blow up the courthouse,” George said.
The streets immediately around the courthouse, which is located at 150 N. Main St., were blocked off while police investigated the incident.
Workers were allowed back into the courthouse after everything was secured.
