An accident that occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. yesterday morning has claimed the life of a Norfolk man.

The accident occurred at the U.S. 58 on-ramp at U.S. 460. The tractor-trailer was transporting beef for Golden State Foods.

The tractor-trailer was traveling up the on-ramp toward U.S 58 when the vehicle flipped over the guardrail and came to rest in the roadway of the off-ramp, according to a police department press release.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Edward L. Freeman, died at the scene.

The tractor-trailer was the only vehicle involved.

Both ramps were closed late into the afternoon yesterday as personnel worked to upright the vehicle.
