A man wanted for allegedly passing more than $500 in counterfeit bills at a local store was captured in North Carolina Wednesday.

Police say Adrian T. Harvey, 26, of the 200 block of Elm Avenue in Portsmouth, used 26 counterfeit $20 bills at the North Main Street Walmart to purchase a Walmart money card.

Police received a tip that Harvey was employed in Garner, N.C., city spokeswoman Debbie George said Wednesday. The Suffolk Police Department’s Fugitive Unit coordinated with the police department in North Carolina to make the arrest.

Harvey was taken into custody by Garner police without incident, George added.
