Benjamin Howell Jr., 72, of 3768 Butler Drive, Suffolk, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Benjamin Howell Sr. and Rosa Langston Howell.

He was a member of Palm Tree Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Eva White (Joe) and Irene Lowther (Henry), both of Suffolk; two brothers, Thurman Langston (Mable), of Suffolk, and Willie Howell (Linda), of Gatesville, N.C.; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Palm Tree Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Anthony W. Sommerville. Interment will be in Howell Cemetery in Whaleyville.
