Pot was for personal use

To the editor:

In response to your news article (Gun, Drugs: Murder victim’s home had pot plants, shotgun,” July 27, 2011), I would like to tell you a couple of things about Brandon Alston that you did not mention.

He inherited the home he was living in. (His mother passed away when he was 10). The shotgun you referred to was purchased at Walmart legally. And the 12 marijuana plants that were found were for personal usage, not for distribution.

I have been involved with Brandon since he was 2. He was not perfect, but you failed to mention a couple of things: He was a college student and was working a legitimate job.

Can you please include all the facts, good and bad, when talking about a young man who was taken way too soon? Your article really made him out to be someone he was not.
