HAMPTON — Division leader and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national title contender C.E. Falk puts his four-race winning streak on the line Saturday when the Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars take to Langley Speedway’s .395-mile oval for the St. Leo University Twin 75s, the featured events of a gigantic eight-race card.
Along with the Late Model Twins, Saturday’s lineup includes: KeesVacations.com Modifieds (Twin 25s); Pepsi Grand Stocks (40 laps); Cycle City Corp. INEX Legends (25 laps); CBX Modular Homes INEX Bandoleros (20 laps); and Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts (20 laps).
Front gates open and afternoon practice, followed by time trials, gets under way at 2 p.m. Pre-race festivities begin at 6:55 and the first race goes green shortly after 7.
While Falk and three-time national champ Philip Morris both swept Late Model doubleheaders last weekend, Falk at Langley and Morris at South Boston, defending national titlist Keith Rocco made an even stronger statement, scoring three wins at three Connecticut tracks to retain the top spot in this week’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Top 500.
Morris is second in the national rankings, followed by Lee Pulliam, who won one of two Late Model features last Saturday at Radford’s Motor Mile Speedway. Falk continues to hold down fourth place.
Other Langley regulars in the national top 100 are Greg Edwards (24), Danny Edwards Jr. (70) and Doug Godsey (95).
After a delay, the INEX Legends results from July 1 and 16 events have been certified, making wins by Brad Hancock and Woody Howard official. Hancock leads Spencer Saunders by 28 points in the season standings.
Macy Causey holds a 12-point lead over Darrell Adkins in the INEX Bandoleros standings. She has won two of four races this season.
Saturday’s Legends and Bandoleros races will serve as national qualifying events. Legends drivers will be competing for a bid to the INEX Asphalt Nationals, which will be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October. Bandoleros competitors will be gunning for an invite to the INEX Bandoleros Nationals, slated for Kentucky Speedway at the end of August.
