Margaret Salmon Whitfield, 94, of Suffolk, Va., passed away on July 26, 2011. A native of Gates County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John Henry Salmon and Della Mae Fanney Salmon. She was the owner and waitress at Cabin Inn Restaurant and a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Salmon Warren and Arthur M. Warren, of Suffolk; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack Owen Salmon Sr. and Virginia Baines Salmon, of Portsmouth; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Newman Cemetery (behind Oakland Christian Church), officiated by the Rev. Reginald Warren.
