A member of the violent Bounty Hunter Bloods gang pleaded guilty Wednesday in Norfolk federal court to a pattern of racketeering activity that occurred partially in Suffolk.
Tyrone Williams Jr., 23, of Portsmouth, entered the pleas on charges including attempted murder, home invasion, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession of a firearm in a crime of violence.
According to court documents, Williams was involved in an April 29, 2006 shooting in Suffolk that was meant as retaliation against a member of the Crips, a rival gang to the Bounty Hunter Bloods and Nine Tech Gangsters.
On April 25, 2007, Williams and other gang members also executed a home invasion of a residence in Chesapeake, where two people were injured.
In the summer of 2008, Williams was also involved in a shooting in the Downtown Tunnel in Norfolk after he and other gang members were at a Virginia Beach club and spotted an individual who had previously disrespected one of the gang members. Later that same night, they saw the person driving through the tunnel and began shooting at the vehicle. The person was able to elude them without injury.
Williams also was involved in the distribution of illegal narcotics, according to court records.
He will be sentenced on Oct. 31 and faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Portsmouth Police Department and the Virginia State Police.
