Did you know there are people in our community who cannot get to the cancer treatments they need to possibly save their lives? Did you know there is something you can do to help?

The American Cancer Society needs your support for its Road to Recovery program.

Road to Recovery volunteers provide volunteer transportation for cancer patients to and from their cancer treatments. The volunteers who drive for this program provide a crucial service to patients whose families and friends cannot drive them to every treatment.

Drivers are an important part of a patient’s recovery, providing moral support and a sympathetic ear. Volunteers can be retirees, students, homemakers or anyone with flexible time during the week. The main requirements are the desire to help others, a good driving record and an insured car in good working condition.

We hope that people in our community will participate in this lifesaving program. A person can volunteer as often as he or she wishes. The American Cancer Society provides an orientation, support materials and other assistance.
