Holiday closings set

Christmas closings in Suffolk will be as follows:
City government: Offices will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They will reopen on Monday.
Schools: All public and private primary and secondary schools and colleges are closed and will reopen Jan. 5.
Parks: Lone Star Lakes will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday. Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett’s Creek parks will remain open throughout the holiday, although no park attendants will be on duty.
Libraries: All of Suffolk’s libraries will be closed beginning Wednesday. They will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday.
Tourist locations: The Suffolk Museum will be closed beginning Wednesday. It will reopen at 10 a.m. Jan. 6. The city’s visitor center will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Public works: There will be regular trash collection on Wednesday and no collection on Thursday. Thursday’s trash will be collected on Friday, and Friday’s trash will be collected on Saturday. Trash must be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on the day of the collection.
State offices: All state offices, including the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, will be closed Wednesday and will not reopen until Monday. State offices will close again at 1 p.m. Dec. 31 to mark New Year’s Eve. The DMV’s customer service centers will reopen Jan. 3 for regular Saturday hours.
Post offices: The U.S. Postal Service will close local offices on Christmas Day. All other hours are as normal.
