Westbound U.S. Route 58 is currently closed because of a vehicle fire.

A truck carrying an undetermined amount of gunpowder caught fire on the road, near the regional landfill, as it traveled from Chesapeake into Suffolk.

Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George said she anticipates the road will be closed until at least 9:30 p.m.
