Suffolk police are soliciting the public’s help in finding a man accused of burglary and sexual assault.

Anthony Lamont Harris, 37, is wanted for one count of breaking and entering, one count of abduction and one count of attempted rape.

According to a city press release, a man living in the 1000 block of Cogic Square reported that he awoke at about 11 p.m. Jan. 20 with someone on top of him. The victim fought off the subject, who then entered the room of a 17-year-old in the same home and tried to sexually assault her, Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George said in the city’s statement.

The suspect fled when the male victim entered that room and struggled with him.

George said in the statement that Harris was identified in the course of the investigation. He is described as a black man, about 5’11” tall and weighing 240 pounds. His last known address was in the 500 block of Battery Avenue.

Anyone who knows Harris’ location is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up. Callers do not have to identify themselves or appear in court. If a caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
