Sluggers batting cages have Grand Opening

Sluggers Batting Cages and Pro Shop will hold a Grand Opening Ceremony for its new indoor baseball and softball training center on Saturday from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sluggers is located at 813C West Constance Rd. in the Suffolk West Shopping Plaza.

During the celebration, visitors will be able to try out the facility’s batting cages and the first 100 kids will receive free Sluggers t-shirts. Visitors will be entered to win an Easton Stealth IMX, DeMarini CF3 softball bat or Ti22 batting gloves.

Sluggers boasts four token batting machine stations, two tunnels and a retail counter for baseball and softball equipment. Additional services include private and group batting instruction, batting cage rental, team sales and specialized equipment ordering.

Regular business hours will be Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

“We are happy to bring Suffolk a much-needed facility to practice baseball and softball in or feel free to just come swing the bat and have a good time,” said manager Suzanne Sargent.

“Sluggers will be an excellent addition to our community,” said Suffolk mayor Linda Johnson. “This will allow individuals the ability to practice their game anytime of the year without having to worry about the weather. This facility and investment will certainly enhance the quality of life for our citizens.”
