Peanut Fest is still more than three months away, but businesses and civic organizations should start thinking now about their plans for Suffolk’s favorite festival.
The deadline for vendors to sign up to be part of the fun is July 31. The main event is Oct. 6-9.
“We have a lot of local nonprofit organizations in Suffolk that come out to Peanut Fest and participate as a vendor who end up getting money back to go to the organization,” said Cathy Richards, a member of the board of directors. “That’s what Peanut Fest is about, giving back to the community.”
As always, there will be food vendors, commercial vendors and arts and crafts vendors at the peanut party, Richards said.
Peanut Fest, an annual tradition in Suffolk, began as a way to celebrate the peanut harvest. It has since grown into an event with a midway, entertainment and more.
The co-chairmen currently are working on getting entertainment lined up, Richards said. Information on the entertainers will be released soon.
In addition, tickets for two locally famous events that lead up to the Peanut Fest — the Queen’s Luncheon and Shrimp Feast — will be on sale soon.
