Holland Athletic Association will host a free Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition for area youth on Mar. 14 at 9:30 a.m.
Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. The competition is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to enter, free of charge, in a competition which recognizes individual excellence in core baseball skills.
Competitors are divided into four age groups ranging from 7-8 years old to 13-14 years old. The event at the Holland Athletic Association is the first of four levels of competition. The third level is a Team Championship held at a Major League Baseball stadium. The national finals will be held at the 2009 MLB All-Star Game.
The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion, in each age group qualify from the local competition to the sectional level of competition.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition.
The Holland Athletic Complex is located at 6700 Ruritan Blvd. For questions concerning Pitch, Hit and Run, please contact the local coordinator, Les Matthews, at either 539-4056 or mmump1@msn.com.
