Kenneth M. Jenkins, 51, of 654 Carolina Road, Suffolk, Va., died on June 23, 2011, at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Bernice Pearson Jenkins and Herbert Jenkins. At an early age, he was a member of St. Mark AMEZ church. He attended John Yeates High School and retired from the Army National Guard after 20 years of service.

He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Quaimeter Darden, of Suffolk; five sisters, Joyce A. Wiggins (Billy Earl) and Charlotte Jenkins, both of Suffolk, Denise Perry (Ray), of Wilmington, N.C., Gloria Blount, of Chesapeake, Va., and Wanda Daughtrey (Roy), of Franklin, Va.; one brother, Tony Jenkins (June), of Spotsylvania, Va.; four grandchildren, Aquantiya, Zhaiquan, Zavion, and Mo’na Darden, all of Suffolk; three aunts, Rever Thomas, of Washington, D.C., Gladys Rodgers and Willie Mae Jenkins, of Suffolk; three uncles, Clayton Pearson, of Tarboro, N.C., Salis Pearson Jr. and Andrew Outlaw, both of Suffolk; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at St. Mark AMEZ, 817 McKinley Ave., Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Wilmer Williams. Interment will be at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will greet friends at 654 Carolina Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
