The recipients were Felton Blow of Lakeland High School, Rashawn McKinney of Nansemond River High School and Yasmin Artis of King’s Fork High School. Beverly Britt, the owner of Gentle Touch Home Care, presented the awards to the recipients.
A member from each recipient’s family was asked to speak about the journey the student made in order to get to this point. The supporters of the students were also presented with awards in recognition of the hard work that it took to help the recipients meet this goal of graduation. All of the recipients have demonstrated their citizenship efforts through various community services.
“The recipients of the scholarship embodied what the community and the world needs for a positive future,” stated a release from the company. “We were honored to be able to meet these young people and acknowledge them for their achievements.”
