Summer soccer season set

Are you ready to kick it with the Suffolk Family YMCA? Our summer soccer season is right around the corner, and we are now accepting registrations for children 3 to 18 years of age.
Soccer at the YMCA is unique. As with all of our sports leagues, we focus on improving children’s basic sports skills in a non-competitive environment with an emphasis on fun and the development of positive self-esteem.
In all of the YMCA youth sports, we emphasize our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith in an “everyone plays, everyone wins” environment. League play is also governed by our Player’s Creed: Win or lose, I pledge before God to play the game the best that I can, to be a team player, to respect my opponents, the rules and officials and to improve myself in spirit, mind and body.
At the Suffolk Family YMCA, it is our goal to build the players’ self-worth, while improving his or her athletic skills.
Our youngest players will participate in the Little Kickers Soccer program. This is specifically designed for children ages 3 to 5 years of age. Little Kickers will meet Monday or Tuesday evenings beginning June 22 and ending July 28. The Little Kickers will learn basic soccer skills during the season.
Older children ages 5 to 18 will participate in a more traditional soccer season with practices and games. The eight-week season begins June 22 and runs until July 29. Practices and games will be held on weekdays, keeping your weekends free for other family activities, like enjoying our beautiful outdoor pool and spray park.
Volunteer coaches, assistant coaches and referees are needed and appreciated greatly. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Rene Vargas Jr., the Youth and Family Program director at 934-YMCA ext.12, or email rvargas@ymcashr.org.
