Mildred Carter Jordan, 82, died June 18, 2011 at her home.

She was a daughter of the late Zola Rountree and John Henry Carter. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Brittany Anne Gudger, and a brother, G. Ronnie Carter.

Mrs. Jordan was an active member of Providence United Methodist Church and a member of the Gray Memorial Sunday School Class. She was a past president and remained very active in the Virginia Porkettes, and was also a past president of the National Porkettes from 1980-82.

Survivors include her husband, Ritchie Allen Jordan; a daughter, Zola Cate “Kay” Gudger, and husband, David, of Elgin, Ill.; son, Keith Jordan, and wife, Peggy, of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Zoey Gudger, Josey Gudger and Luke R. Jordan; three brothers, John Henry Carter Jr., of Suffolk, Dean M. Carter, of Florida, and Wayne Carter, of Georgia; and special friend, Armando Camaya, of Portsmouth.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, June 20, at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church by the Rev. Garland Hines, with burial following at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory.
