SUFFOLK — William Copeland March, DDS, 76, died June 18, 2011, at his home.

Born in Franklin, Va., he was the son of the late Mills J. and Margaret C. March. He was a lifetime member of Holy Neck Christian Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class, the Layman Fellowship, served on the Board of Trustees, as a deacon and many other church committees. Dr. March was a charter member of the Holy Neck South Quay Ruritan Club. He was a past member of the advisory committee of Lake Prince Woods and past member of the Foundation of United Church Homes and Services.

Dr. March was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Randolph Macon College and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia. He was a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia State Dental Association, Tidewater Dental Association and Suffolk-Portsmouth Dental Study Club.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Paige M. and H. Randolph Thomas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mills A. and Sharon March, Norman K. and Ann March, all of Suffolk; nieces and nephews, Frank A. March (Sarah), Mills Hunter March (Jennifer), David H. March (Jeannette), Ann Firman March, Horton Wray March (Nicole), Paul Thomas (Missy), Sarah Bedka (Kris); nine great-nieces and -nephews, Jessica, Will, Matt, Tucker, Tanner, Millie, Sadie, Linc and Johnny Baker.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Holy Neck Christian Church by the Rev. Dr. William Drew Mountcastle with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory and after the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at his home.
