A regional qualifying event for the Casey Cycle City INEX Legends highlights a five-race slate this Saturday as Langley Speedway continues its 2009 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series campaign with Little Race Cars Night at the Races.

In addition to the INEX Legends 30-lapper, Saturday’s lineup includes: Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars (100 laps), Rolling Thunder Modifieds (75 laps), Old Point National Bank Grand Stocks (40 laps) and Standard Welding Pro 6s (30 laps).

Gates open at 1 p.m., while afternoon practice rounds run from 2 to 4. Time trials get under way at 4:30. Pre-race festivities begin at 6:40 and the Pro 6s lead off the evening’s feature card, shortly after 7.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans” (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military members (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+, with ID) receive a $2 discount off the regular adult ticket price. “Family Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 — a savings of $5.

The winner of Saturday’s INEX Legends feature will claim a first-place purse of $500. Also, bonus payouts have been posted for the top-finishing Pro ($250), Masters ($200), Semi-Pro ($150) and Young Lions ($100) division drivers.

The USARacing Pro Cup Series will be at Langley Speedway for a 250-lap contest on Saturday, May 23. Series officials announced the addition to their schedule late last week.

The Pro Cup Series, formerly sponsored by Hooters Restaurants, features a lively mix of up-and-coming youngsters and longtime short-track veterans.

Launched in 1997, the series has evolved into a top proving ground with several competitors moving on to careers in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck series. Pro Cuppers last raced at Langley in 1998 with Scott Wimmer taking the victory.

NASCAR action continues at Langley Speedway on Saturday, April 25, when the track hosts Sprint Night at the Races. The feature lineup includes: Late Model Stock Cars, B&C Seafood Modifieds, Atlantic Power Sweeping Super Streets, EZ Auto of Newport News UCARs, Wolf Trucks and Enduros.
