On Sunday afternoon, two residents of a Suffolk home were displaced after a fire ripped through the back of their home on Pughsville Rd. Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the house in the 3800 block of Pughsville Rd at approximately 1:30 p.m., where firefighters discovered smoke and flames billowing from the rear of the home.
SFR says the blaze was largely contained to the back of the structure, but some smoke and flames managed to spread inside, however, everyone inside the house was able to get out safely before firefighters arrived.
It took crews about half an hour to bring the fire under control.
The back of the house suffered heavy damage in the fire, while the interior sustained moderate smoke and fire damage. No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross is assisting the two displaced residents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office.
