Unexploded Ordnance Found in Suffolk Neighborhood

SUFFOLK, Va. — A live ammunition round was discovered in the Magnolia Lakes neighborhood of Suffolk on Thursday, prompting the evacuation of nearby residences. The incident began at 3:41 p.m. when Suffolk Emergency Communications received a report of unexploded ordnance in the 1100 block of Nansemond Parkway.
Upon arrival, Suffolk Police and Fire & Rescue confirmed the presence of the ordnance and evacuated nearby residences as a safety measure. The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office and the Virginia State Police Bomb Squad were called to investigate. The Virginia State Police Bomb Squad took possession of the live ammunition round for further evaluation.
The scene was declared safe at 4:24 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
