The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is excited to welcome the Hurrah Players, Virginia’s Leading Family Theatre Company, back to the Birdsong Theater for Cinderella, on Saturday, October 19 at 2 PM. The Hurrah Players kick-off their 40th season with this treasured Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic tale, where the magic isn’t just in the ball gown!

This reimagined fairy tale is a musical filled with charm, laughter, and timeless life lessons. Follow the journey of a passionate Cinderella as she navigates the challenges of self-discovery, love, and unexpected adventures. With beloved characters, unforgettable tunes, and a plot that sparkles with warmth and hilarity, it’s a must-see for anyone seeking an escape into a world where dreams unfold, lessons are embraced, and enchantment reigns supreme. Brace yourself for a whirlwind of youthful exuberance and pure fun–Cinderella awaits with open arms, ready to cast its spell on hearts of all ages.

The Cinderella ensemble features over 50 cast members, from Hurrah Players young students to seasoned adults. Ava Saunders, Cinderella, is beyond honored to fulfill her lifelong goal of being a princess! Ava is a Junior in the VPAA at Salem High School and works as a Party Princess at Dream Entertainer’s. Carter Spurr, Prince Charming, is a senior at Cape Henry Collegiate and has several theatrical and on-camera credits including with Virginia Stage Company, American Ballet Theatre, Hurrah Players, Studio Center, Busch Gardens, and more. Stephanie Tillman Liggins, Fairy Godmother, is a Portsmouth native who enjoys family time with her husband and 2 sons. After seeing her first production of “Cinderella” with The Hurrah Players, she told her mother that she wanted to be up there on the stage. Cinderella’s awful “Stepmother” is played by Clarinda Tabinga, from Carrollton, VA, along with her mean stepsisters “Portia”, played by Brooklynn Cowell, “Joy” played by Ava Martin, and Kevin Gonzalez is the Steward.

The Suffolk Center’s 19th Performance Season features interactive ‘fun factors’ to maximize patron’s show experience, Cinderella is no exception! Families are invited to come early, 12- 2 PM, to visit Cinderella’s horse and carriage! Children are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Cinderella costume for photo-ops and to enter the costume contest at 1:15PM! A new ticket option is the pre-show ‘Meet the Characters’ Luncheon. And no Hurrah Players performance would be complete without a post-show ‘Meet and Greet’ for photos and autographs with the cast.
