According to a social media post, Suffolk Fire and Rescue brought a fire under control at the Herald Flats on Saratoga St. Friday afternoon. When crews arrived at the scene of the two-story apartment building, they were met with light smoke conditions. Upon entering the structure, it was determined that there was a fire in the
kitchen of an apartment on the first floor but was extinguished before the arrival of fire crews. A primary search determined that all occupants were able to exit the structure on their own. Crews performed ventilation of the building to remove residual
smoke.

The resident of the apartment was transported to a local hospital with smoke inhalation injuries as a result of the incident.
