Annie Ruth Saunders, 89, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, July 4, 2024, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Anne was born on May 8, 1935, in Maury County, Columbia, TN, to the late Wilburn Wilson and Johnnie Etta (Jones) Wilson. Anne retired as a cashier from Louise Obici Memorial Hospital after 26 years of dedicated service. She was a devoted member of Mt. Ararat Christian Church for 62 years.

Anne was also a beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren: the late Michael Phillip Artis, Antione “Dude” Saunders (special), Michael “Mike-Mike” Cross, James “JT” Saunders, Nycolass Hinson, Amy Cross (special), Keona Powell (Donzell), and Aurelia “Ree-Ree” Saunders; 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Allene “Barbara” Black; and a host of family and friends.

A visitation will take place from 4pm until 7pm on Wednesday at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Mt. Ararat Christian United Church and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
