Mr. Ceylon Narvelle Mitchell transitioned to his eternal resting place on May 4, 2024, peacefully at home, in Anchorage, Alaska. He called Alaska home for over 32 years. Ceylon, also known as “Mitch,” was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. Ceylon was born in Suffolk, Virginia on August 27, 1948 to his parents James and Theresa Mitchell. He was one of ten siblings, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Ceylon is preceded in death by his father, James A. Mitchell, from Ivor, VA, his mother, Theresa E. Mitchell, from Nansemond County, Suffolk, VA, and his sister Beulah Robinson, New Jersey.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on July 20, 2024 at his home church, Metropolitan Baptist church, Suffolk, Va. At 1:00 pm. Friends and Family are invited to attend the “Celebration of his life.”

Ceylon graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Suffolk, VA in 1968.
