St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® is offering Suffolk and Hampton Roads residents the home of their dreams.

Partnering up with Kirbor Homes, the St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway will give a lucky individual a chance to win a new home in the Bennett’s Pasture community. Located at 1120 Erin Drive, the home is listed at approximately 3100 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms at an estimated value of $715,000. 

St. Jude provided a sneak peek of the home with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 16. During the preview, St. Jude Development Specialist Ariana Rogers said they are “very grateful” for everyone’s involvement in the home.

“This year, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Hampton Roads St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all of our amazing sponsors, supporters, our volunteers, and also the community for helping us to raise money for the hospital by reserving their ticket,” Rogers said.

Ticket reservations for the sweepstakes are $100 per ticket. The public will also be able to tour the house during the Grand Open House Weekend, which runs from Saturday, May 18, through Saturday, June 8. Open house tours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. 

Rogers says the proceeds from the home will help continue the hospital’s work of treating children worldwide.

“With every ticket that is purchased and every donation that is made, all of the proceeds benefit St. Jude so that families don’t have to worry about receiving a bill for treatment, travel, or housing or food so that the family can just focus on their child and their child getting better and getting the treatment that they deserve,” Rogers said.

On working with Kirbor Homes on the project, Rogers said it has been “amazing.”

“We are very grateful for all of their support they provide us. They love St. Jude, we love them and we’re so grateful that they believe in our mission enough to be able to do this, and so without them, we wouldn’t be able to have this.”

Kirbor Homes Co-Owner Rick Savino talked about working with St. Jude on the project. Reflecting on their three year collaboration back in the late 2010s, Savino says the partnership allowed for their company to get to know St. Jude’s mission first-hand.

“And we were looking as a company to provide some resources and [their] Dream Home campaign seemed to be right up our [alley] to exactly what we were trying to do to contribute back,” Savino said. “And we sat down with the St. Jude folks in Memphis, there was a builder in town who was getting ready to drop out of the campaign, and they had approached us and we listened to their description of the campaign and immediately jumped on board.”

Joining with St. Jude again in time for the 25th anniversary of the St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway, Savino said the Suffolk home is one of 43 dream homes nationwide.

“Our home here in Suffolk is just one piece to the puzzle. 100 percent of what we’re raising here goes back to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis,” Savino said. “If you can imagine each year that they do this in Hampton Roads, we’re raising between a million to a million in a half dollars that go back and over 43 campaigns, it’s a really sizable contribution back to the hospital.”

As for the sweepstakes deadline, Rogers says that the clock is ticking for those interested.

“They need to reserve their tickets soon before they sell out! The giveaway is June 13,” Rogers said.
