Elaine Pierce Salmon, 88, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 13, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Willie Lee Pierce and Cleta Mae Carter Bradshaw. She was predeceased by her stepfather Herbert “Red” A. Bradshaw.
Elaine was a 1954 graduate from Suffolk High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart of 67 years Jim. Together they owned and operated Salmon’s Paint and Decorating Center. Elaine loved and adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was a fan of the Duke Blue Devils, enjoyed visiting the OBX, and her favorite holiday was Christmas. When Elaine was not busy at the store, or spending time with her grandchildren, you could find her relaxing at home, sitting on the back porch enjoying the view of the lake.
She is survived by her husband James “Jim” Thomas Salmon, Sr.; children Rhonda S. Phippins (Tom), James Thomas “Tommy” Salmon, Jr. (Robin) and Brenda S. Russell (Blake); grandchildren James “Jamie” Thomas Salmon III (Liz), Becky S. Johnson (Wes), Chelsey S. Sari (Charles), Ricky “Rick” Lee Gregory, Jr., Jackalyn K. LaFave (Chaz), Juliette E. Knight (fiancé Chaydon); great grandchildren Lexie, Colton, Cash, Riley, Owen, Cayne, Jack, and an 8th one on the way in March; and sister Audrey P. Smith.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk VA. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday, January 21, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
