Royal Farms employees say they are “ROFO ready” to serve during their Thursday evening trial run. Located at 1200 Portsmouth Blvd, the gas station and convenience store famed for its “World Famous Chicken” hosted a soft opening on Thursday, Nov. 16. Attendees came out to be some of the first customers to be served before the grand opening on Monday, Nov. 20 at midnight. 

Store Leader Victoria Marr and District Leader Elaina Leatherbury talked about the new convenience store, expressing how excited she and her team were during the trial opening.

“We can’t wait to get the store open,” Marr said. “Tonight, we’re just really excited to be here, have the practice run, have part of the community come in, get a sneak peek at what we’re doing here. We’re feeling really good. We’re feeling really excited.”

Leatherbury talked a bit about the “large” process of the store being put together.

“From [the] ground up, it takes several months all together,” Leatherbury said. “A lot of components of the company, construction, IT, permitting… The training team has a significant part of this because literally, we hire people for their personalities. So we train them on everything.”

Likewise, Leatherbury hopes Suffolk residents will know that the new Royal Farms store is here to “support” residents.

“To really just support the City of Suffolk and make sure that we’re here for whatever their needs are,” Leatherbury said. “We got chicken, we got coffee, milk, beer, energy drinks… we’re here 24 hours, seven days a week!”
