According to a media release from the city, Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police are investigating a report of a bomb threat on campus at King’s Fork High School on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. Suffolk Fire & Rescue, the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office, and Suffolk Police responded to the scene at approximately 10 a.m. following notification from school administrators.
“The school was evacuated while a sweep of the building was conducted with assistance from Virginia State Police and the Newport News Police Department K9 unit,” the release said. “The school was declared safe at 11:23 a.m., and students were permitted back in the building. Minutes after first responders cleared this incident, an additional bomb threat was received at the school. However, since K9 units had already cleared the building, there was no further need to evacuate students and staff.”
These incidents remain under investigation.
