Mildred Lee Bittle Edwards, 80, went to be with her Lord on Oct. 13, 2023. He called one of his best angels home. She was born in Gates County, N.C. to the late Sallie Mae Newsome and Clarence Lee Bittle. She is also predeceased by her sister, Leslie Paige Pope and brother, William T. Bittle. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church and served in many capacities including the social committee and food pantry giveaways. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Mildred was an avid gardener with a very “green thumb” and was known by many as the “Collard Lady”. Whoever visited her either left with fresh vegetables or something home cooked. What time she had left after taking care of the business, garden, yard and family, was given to her beloved church.

Mildred is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Paul Jackson Edwards Sr; daughters, Paula Edwards Sadler (Ira Jr.), Cindy Edwards Robertson (John Jr.), Deborah Edwards Corbett (Lawrence) and Becky Edwards Lassiter (Tim); son, Paul J. Edwards Jr. (Tera); grandchildren, Robert Sadler, Patrick Robertson, Megan Sadler, Chris Corbett (Megan), Jessica Sadler (Bobby), Ben Corbett, Ashlyn “Punkin” Edwards and Logan “Bubba” Edwards; great-grandchildren, Rose Bonnette and Sabrina Stubenvoll; sister, Mary Virginia Moore and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Eureka Baptist Church with Pastor David Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at the church’s cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Eureka Baptist Church Food Pantry.
