The Suffolk News-Herald announced Friday it will eliminate its Sunday print edition effective Oct. 1.

The decision comes in response to rising costs of raw materials used to produce the printed product, the changing habits of readers, and shifts in advertising spending.

Readers can still enjoy the news and features they look forward to in the Wednesday print edition and through the News-Herald’s many digital platforms.

This change will not impact the news coverage the newspaper will have throughout Suffolk, says Publisher Betty Ramsey.

“Fewer print days don’t mean less of the important local news coverage that you’ve come to expect,” she said. “We are still your best source for local news and remain committed to covering our community daily.”

The newspaper offers a wide range of content delivered through its digital platforms. Through those platforms, the News-Herald plans to continue providing the most up-to-date news content affecting Suffolk daily.

Ramsey said she appreciates the support the community continues to show the publication and hopes that support will continue to grow.

“This community has always been supportive of the work produced by the staff of the Suffolk News-Herald,” Ramsey said. “I hope that support continues to grow as we navigate the shift in news consumption habits. I encourage everyone to subscribe to our digital platforms and thank you for your continued support.”
