Offices close Monday throughout city for Labor Day

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, Suffolk City offices are closed Monday, Sept. 4, with regular operations set to resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The city observes all state-designated holidays. Labor Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia and all state offices are closed on this day, according to a news release.
Suffolk Public Works Department is picking up trash as scheduled Sept. 5-8. TFC Recycling also conducts its normal recycling collection routes this week. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds residents that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. The Southeastern Public Service Authority Transfer Station in Suffolk and the regional landfill are open from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 4.
Suffolk Transit is not operating on Labor Day.
Suffolk Parks and Recreation Joint Use Recreation Centers — Kings Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores, Oakland, Booker T. Washington, Mack Benn Jr. — are closed Monday and reopen at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5. The East Suffolk Recreation Center, Curtis Milteer Recreation Center and Bennett’s Creek Recreation Center are closed Labor Day and reopen at 6 a.m. Tuesday. The Suffolk Parks and Recreation Administration Office also is closed Monday, reopening at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Lake Meade, Sleepy Hole, Bennett’s Creek — remain open Monday, Sept. 4. However, no park attendant will be on duty.
The Suffolk Art Gallery is closed Monday, reopening at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Cypress Park Pool is closed Monday and remains closed until 2024 season.
All Suffolk city libraries — Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk and Chuckatuck — are closed for the Labor Day holiday. Morgan Memorial and North Suffolk Libraries reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, while the Chuckatuck Library reopens at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11.
The Suffolk Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. The Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum is currently closed due to renovations.
The Suffolk Executive Airport terminal is unmanned Monday, Sept. 4. The airfield, self-service fuel island, and restaurant will remain open on Labor Day.
