Brennan Jones aims to help others through Physical Therapy. A graduate of Suffolk Christian Academy, Jones currently attends Tidewater Community College studying in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Jones says he made the decision after a few conversations with professors and high recommendations from his co-workers. However, he notes “the most important factor” in his decision: having all the knowledge needed to take his American Physical Therapist Association board exam to become a licensed physical therapist assistant.
“Now, after my first year here, I am truly blessed to have such an amazing group of classmates and professors who I consider to be family,” Jones expressed of his journey so far.
Following graduation, Jones says he hopes to work in an outpatient setting and notes that he has been “truly blessed” where he has had the opportunity to work thus far.
“I worked as a physical therapy tech at Ivy Rehab Physical Therapy on Godwin Boulevard,” he said. “I love working at Ivy because the coworkers are like your family, and I truly wouldn’t be anywhere near the future therapist that I am going to be without them. They have all taught me so much, and I have been truly blessed by them.”
On why an outpatient setting is his focus, Jones expresses that the setting would help provide a positive experience in working with his patients.
“I really love building a relationship with my patients and helping/seeing them improve from the first visit to the last visit,” he detailed.
On his career goals, Jones hopes to work in Sports Rehabilitation due to his lifelong passion for sports.
“…I would really love to be able to help athletes recovering from their injury get back their sport and play at a high level,” said Jones.
Likewise, Jones noted his simple goal for becoming a physical therapist assistant: His love for helping others.
“I love helping people and I like having a job where you can see and learn something new every single day,” he expressed.
Finally, on how he hopes to make an impact, Jones says he hopes to make a similar impression as his two biggest role models: His parents.
“From a very young age my Dad and Mom have been the two biggest role models in my life. They have both taught me the value of hardwork, selflessness, dedication and the value of a dollar,” Jones expressed. “They also instilled in me the values of putting God first in all I do and always staying true to myself and my family.”
Jones expressed that his family is “extremely important” to him while also noting the important impact that both his grandfather and father have had in his life, saying that he would be “nowhere near the man” he is today without them. Jones reflected on the lessons his father gave him.
“My Father taught me what it truly means to be a man, he taught me to always do what is right and avoid what is wrong, to always stand up for what is right no matter what, and the value of ‘sir’ and ‘ma’am’ among many other things,” he said. “I have been truly blessed by God to have such amazing parents and such an amazing family.”
Finally, Jones notes he wants to be remembered in four important ways both his mother and father will be remembered.
“Someone who always reflects the love of Christ to everyone they meet”, “never meeting a stranger”, “someone who is truly selfless and would give you the shirt off their back”, [and] “someone who just makes the world a better place everyday,” he ended.
