Suffolk City Treasurer Ron Williams and Chief Deputy Treasurer Andrew Owen presented Captain Jonathan Meredith and Deirdre Sawyer of the Suffolk Salvation Army with a check for $1,000 from the proceeds of the Treasurer’s annual United Way golf tournament.
The proceeds were designated to the Suffolk Salvation Army’s playground revitalization project, which was overseen by Claire Askew, as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project.
Askew raised the funds necessary to complete the playground revitalization and saw the project to completion. Askew dedicated this project in memory of the late Carlos Ward, Sr.
