Suffolk Police apprehend 12 fugitives in massive indictment sweep involving narcotics, firearms, currency charges

A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of 12 people Wednesday as authorities served 109 direct indictments on firearms, narcotics and U.S. currency charges.

In a news release Wednesday, July 12, Suffolk Police Department announced that with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the United States Marshal Service, they simultaneously executed and served 10 narcotics and firearms related search warrants.

The search warrants were the result of a months-long investigation conducted by the Suffolk Police Neighborhood Enforcement Team-Criminal Investigations Division and the ATF.

Items seized during the execution of the search warrants Wednesday included multiple firearms, narcotics and U.S. currency, police said in the release.  Officials planned to announce more details Wednesday afternoon during a 3 p.m. news conference. Suffolk Police Chief Al Chandler, Suffolk Commonwealth Attorney Narendra Pleas alongside a representative from Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms, and Explosives were expected to participate in the news conference at Suffolk Police Headquarters.
